Back in 2006 the aspiring Modders Medes and MirageKnight decided to work together and fuse their mods to create the Dawn of Warhammer 40,000: Firestorm over Kaurava (abbreviated: FoK) mod team. What started out as a small project to make the already amazing Dawn of War a little bit closer to the codices and background that the Warhammer 40,000 universe offers soon attracted the attention of the public and many other talented modders. Over the course of the years it evolved into the biggest mod in the Dawn of War community. It features over 100 new or reworked models, just as many new high-quality textures, a reworked User Interface with new icon sets for every race and not to mention the massive amounts of awesome code that allows interesting and innovative gameplay. Everything in FoK such as costs, model design, stats and gameplay is based on the rules and codices of the Tabletop game. Our main goal is to bring as many elements from the universe of Warhammer 40k into the real-time-strategy environment that Dawn Of War come offers.
OPEN SOURCE CONTENTS
All models, textures, etc. are available for use to anyone as long as the FoK team is credited. FoK models are used in many other mods and provide new modders with the resources they need to make their vision of Dawn of War come true.
Over the course of the years many great talents have worked with or for the FoK team. Their expertise and ambition have given birth to vast amounts of great models and exciting gameplay elements that put some professional games to shame. This dedication has inspired many others to become active modders themselves and thus play an important role in keeping the Dawn of War community alive.
TEAM
As already said, this mod started out with only two team members, Medes and MirageKnight. People come and go, depending on how much time their real life allows them to dedicate to this mod. Over the years over 40 people have contributed to this mod in some form, be it coding or beta-testing. Since the retirement of the original founders in 2009, Horus and Melooo lead the mod and are doing their best to keep the original spirit alive.
